Melrose ave vintage
How one mid-city street became the gritty pinnacle of West-Coast cool. Dozens of off beat independent businesses and forward thinking boutiques dominated the Avenue and over night these old rundown stucco buildings started to house kooky, outlandish and colorful shops covered in Graffiti and the store employees were the main attraction. But soon pioneer designer, Betsey Johnson opened her boutique on the opposite side that sold edgy styled dresses made of out of leather and lace that quickly defined the cutting edge underground district and helped transform Melrose Avenue from a tired street lined with tailors, artisans and antique shops into a phenomenon of L. For the mods and rockers it was all about skinny ties, ray-bans, rockabilly fashions, motorcycle jackets and vintage cars. Little did anyone know when Billy Shire created the Wacko sign it would become a celebrated icon for weird L. Growing up in Los Angeles, Melrose was my shopping destination as a teenager and helped define my adolescent growth growth.

Tweet Instagram is a funny thing. You stumble upon a storefront account with merchandise you want to buy and next thing, you set your alarm for thirty minutes before the store opens the next day so you can be first in line to pick up that one-of-a-kind item. That sort of happened to me, but minus the waking up part. I finally had an excuse to stop by the new boutique today with my cousin visiting from Chicago and her boyfriend accompanying me. We each, not to our surprise, left with several pick-ups; I bought two vintage Supreme t-shirts and a Supreme espresso cup.

There are piles of clothing everywhere and everything's a dollar. I didnt find too much, a cute pink 80's sweatshirt and a silk scarf. Most of the clothing wasnt my size or it was stained or ripped, but mind you I came very late, around 3, i hear its best to go write in the morning cause thats when all the good stuff is there. I did find alot of womens polyester button up shirts though, which are great, but i already have so many that i refrained from getting more! Inside is awesome, they have two floors and they have an amazing selection of dresses.
